Wednesday Wandomness, doc!

What I'm listening to now...
I'm at work, which is a corporate office attached to my parents' home.  So to help circulate the lovely fall air through said house and office, I keep the french doors open.  Doing this lets in the sound of my 9 and 7-year-old siblings watching Looney Tunes--one of my all-time favorite cartoons (hence the funny accented blog title). They just don't make cartoons like Bugs anymore, do they?  It's cracking me up and I'm not even watching. :)

What I've been reading...
I recently finished One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp and John Piper's Don't Waste Your Life.  They were a combo I didn't plan on, but I'm thankful that I ended up reading them at the same time.  Both brought me two challenging perspectives on the joy of our life in Christ, thankfulness and servant-heartedness that will find me lost in their pages again, I'm sure. :)

A Woman After God's Own Heart - Elizabeth George
North & South - Elizabeth Gaskell
Lies Young Women Believe - Nancy Leigh DeMoss & Dannah Gresh

Now, in addition to trying to keep myself in the Word, I've started THREE books. -gasp-  It was kind of an accident, and I thought "pregnancy brain" would cause me to quit one of them (or two, or three...), but I've been surprised and thankful!  I'm pressing on, absorbing some wonderful things and hoping I can tackle them even with a newborn.  Heh heh, we'll see!

What is up with baby...
(38wk 4d)  Monday, our Doctor's appointment revealed that we're already 80% effaced and 2 cm dialated!  While the Dr. said that could mean delivery in 2 days or 2 weeks, in light of other symptoms, I'm hoping for a baby within the next week. :)
It's been neat to follow blogs of other Mama's due around the same time as me.  A big congrats to Steph and her sweet family, Mr. and Mrs. Lukie--and a very soon congrats to Anna! :)

I should not...
...browse Pinterest on an empty stomach.  Noooo, sir.

I really need to...
...clean the house.
...finish packing the hospital bag and diaper bag.
...stock the fridge so hubby needn't make avoidable runs to the store after baby's born.
...clean.muah.casa.
...finish the next wave of baby gift thank-yous!
...cweanhowse.
...blog all those posts waiting to be posted.
...did I mention I need to clean my house???

I really, really love...
...my sweet husband.
...this growing darling who will make her appearance soon.
...FRUIT SNACKS!
...and you, friend, for stopping by.

I hope your Wednesday, or whatever day it is, is blessed with the goodness of God.  So much that you can't contain it--even if it's not very evident at the moment, I still hope you know it's there. :)

  4. I just ordered that book by Elizabeth George and can't wait to read it. I've also been reading another book by her "Life Management For Busy Women". It has been really great for encouragement!

  7. So you're officially due in October but I'm hoping for a Sept baby for you. 2 cm is definitely a start! :)

There's no cartoons quite like Looney Tunes! I love them and so do my siblings.

1000 Gifts is a very blessed book and it continues to bless my life!

  8. I had heard of the argument, although I've yet to see anything in writing on it yet. My thoughts... Well the book is written in a very poetic form. Very much like narrative poetry. I felt like there was a lot of symbolism/allegory in it, so when I read that I just didn't take it too literal. In fact I didn't really notice it much when reading through the book. Maybe I just wasn't all that discerning about it, but I don't see it as a huge issue. What I have seen written about the book in reviews though about some of the other people she quotes in the book though, has sorta been ridiculous. A couple of people claim she quotes a lot of "new age" leaders, which is untrue. If they'd taken the five minutes to google that they would have seen they're wrong on most accounts. Yep. What about you though? What do you think?

  10. Okay, so you MUST have had the baby by now!! I've been checking in to hear the news and maybe see a pic or two to avail... Hint hint! :)

I know how it goes though with a newborn. But just saying, that when you DO have time I'd love to see a picture. :)
