Monday. It Begins.

Winter sport pants........$10 (Kohl's sale!)

Size-8 Women's Running Pumas.....$78

iPod Shuffle.......Free (a gift, those are the best)

Old Navy Hoodie that miraculously matches aforementioned Kohl's pants...free from bag of clothes

5k training schedule...free, thank you Chloe...and world wide web.

Early morning 5k training run in God's creation to God's-creation-themed David Crowder....PRICELESS.

So, I really like certain things. Things like staying under warm covers on fall mornings (the season doesn't really matter in the scheme of things).
Under the covers anytime before 7:30 is bliss. Bliss is this wonderness.
I like other things like running...running to the barn. Running to the mailbox. But I'm usually dying a little when I run those distances. Embarrassing fact.
So in light of my love for running, I decided to take up the art beginning this morning, and get better at it. Regardless of the hard work, it comes with some pretty nice-sounding benefits. :)
And in light of my love for under-the-coversness...this is how my 1st morning went.

I awoke...to sunrise? Wait. I set my cellphone alarm for 6am. It's not this bright at 6.
The cellphone won't power up. Ugh. Dead battery.
Hmm...yawn...maybe I'm not supposed to go on my run today.
--pulls covers to chin and turns over--
Ugh. Starting over on an un-Monday would really stink.
I get up and walk across the room to Phelisha's phone and see what time it is. 7am.
My plan was to go back to bed, but I'm glad I didn't.

It was a beautiful morning...and "O Praise Him" and "There Is No One Like You" make good running songs on such a morning. They say the 1st couple weeks are the hardest, but I'm impressed with Day One.
The motto for this stuff is "Don't push yourself too hard"...I can handle that. :)

  1. I really need to start running, I keep saying that I'm going to start. I was for awhile, but got out of the groove. I would feel so...less fat if I would just get myself motivated!

  2. More power to you, chica! I'm personally into jazzerchoresize...you know, when you dance wildly to normal household activities. I tell you, Barlow Girl gets a floor mopped like none other! Heehee.

  4. Yess! This is the best post ever! So excited for you. :)

I need new running shoes too, sadly. I've had mine for a while and while I love them a lot, they are made for trail running. This time I need something with a little more endurance for concrete. Let me know how yours work out for you.

And I TOTALLY feel your pain. Yesterday morning, my bed was so unbelievably warm and comfy and I was REALLY tired and running outside in the cold was the very last thing that I wanted to do in the entire world. But I knew I had to, I figured no use in prolonging the inevitable.

Are you running a 5k race?
