Mexico afterthoughts...

Remember in my Mexico entry, I mentioned three little girls from the boarding schools--Lucina, Daisy & Maria? Grace and I were anxious to see if they would be there a year later. Above are two pictures from last year's trip--the right, a picture of Lucina in pink. She was such a sweetheart! The left, a picture of Tim, Daisy and I singing songs--she loved Jesus Loves Me.

Lookie here...from our trip in 2009...

When Grace and I saw Lucina (above cheesin' with Grace), we screamed her name. :) She grinned SO big--she remembered us! We gave her big hugs, and she was all shy. We learned that her name was actually "Rosina", we'd heard her tiny voice incorrectly last year. We were also reunited with Daisy (above pictured with me), who remembered parts of Jesus Loves Me, and was SO anxious to learn some new songs.
They'd changed a little--they were more young ladies than little girls. There sure isn't anything like seeing faces you've kissed before. Or being hugged by little arms you've hugged before. Or singing songs with voices you've sang with before.
We didn't see Maria--either we didn't recognize her, or she was no longer there. I still wonder where she may be and if she's ok--and pray for her too. :)

We met many new little faces, arms and voices. Lord willing that we get to go back, we will see them again. If not, heaven's not too far away. :)

  1. awesome awesome awesome! I was blessed with the opportunity to work with the same kids two summers in a row and it is AWESOME! I'm so glad you saw them again and were able to witness to the beautiful people of Mexico!

As for my running bit, I got my schedule from marathonrookie.com but altered it slightly to add more weeks to train because I definitely need it! LOL. I like it because it's simple and easy to navigate, has a lot of great tips, and isn't limited to marathon training. But there are so many great running websites out there to get you started, just use the wonderful world of Google. :)

Running is an awesome sport, I'm excited you're getting into it. You must keep me updated on your progress!

  2. PS: I've been running on and off for over six years, but since I'm training for a marathon, these past three weeks have been the most consistent I've been EVER, sad to say. And mapmyrun is fantastic...just mapped out my next run not too long ago! And my husband did rub my shoulders last night, yay! :)

    Okay now I'm done! :D
